so i take my car in to get fixed. nothing major, other than really annoying shit. oil change, california required smog check, fig the driver side door handle that wouldn't open the door, and the passenger one that was about to go, as well as fix the cd player and make sure that the passenger side window was working properly.

i made an appointment on wednesday at 8:30am. which wasn't that bad because i had an east coast meeting which i had to call into, that started at nine am eastern time. which means that i was up since six am. anyways. i go down to the dealership, which happens to be mere blocks from my house. there is a line of cars, three lanes wide going all the way out to the road. about fifteen cars all together. this wasn't a good sign.

so i pulled into line, left the car running, and went up to ask someone what the story was. this bitchy lady didn't even hear what i was saying, but snapped at me to go wait by my car. i go back to the car only to realize that i had left my keys in the ignition, and the driver side door, the only one that was unlocked, was still broken. another bad sign.

luckily, the sunroof was open, so i climbed into my car, rolled down the window, and promptly got right the fcuk back out. it was amusing. almost an hour later, i'm still waiting. i'm no longer amused by my own antics. i've pulled up to the front of the line, and every car around me has had someone over to look at it, and fill out the service slip, but mine. i'm pissed.

finally, someone comes over to start talking to me. he asks me what's wrong with the car. i tell him, and he proceeds to fill up lines a thru f with things that need to be done. he's got one line left, and i can't think of anything else wrong, so he writes "wash car" on it. in retrospect, this was probably a bad idea.

i eventually get home, almost two hours after i had left. now i was stranded at home, with no means of getting to work, much less than go anywhere else.

the end of the day comes, and i still haven't heard from the dealership. moments later, they call, and politely and vaigly tell me that i can't have the car back today, because it's not done. i stress that i've already missed a day of work, and i'm not ready to miss another. they assure me that it'll be done before noon the next day.

it's the next day, and it's after two. they haven't called. so i call them. i get transfered three times, and finally get to talking with my "service representative." he tells me that the car has passed it's smog check, the oil change is done, but they haven't had time to do anything else. i'm pissed. he assures me that it'll only be another two hours.

i call again, a couple of times. every time, i get the runaround. finally, around 5:30, i get to talking with my SR, and he tells me that the car is done, and all he has left to do is the paperwork, so why don't i come on down, and the paperwork will be done by the time i get there. so i go.

i get there, and he tells me that he hasn't gotten to it, but i'm next. an hour later, they finally bring the car out, and i pay the bill. because my car has a thousand miles over warranty, i have to pay for everything. needless to say, i was irate.

i go out to the car, and it's parked under a spotlight. (it's completely dark outside by now) as i'm walking up to it, there's all these marks on the hood. upon closer inspection, it appears that someone, probably the person who "washed" it, washed it with a fcuking brillo pad. i'm about to explode. i go back inside. i find my SR. i get the manager. we all go out to the car.

i'm screaming at this point. "what did you wash it with? brillo pads?" they claim that they know nothing. "the car might have been a little dirty when i came in, but i would have noticed the ten spots all over the hood looking like it was scraped with a brillo pad." they tell me that there is nothing that they can do, and that i should come back the next day to have the "detail manager" look at it.

so i go back the next day. early. the detail manager doesn't even come out (he's probably heard how pissed i am) and jsut tells them to give me a free buffing job. so i make an appointment, but i can't get one until the twentieth. oh god.

i've never had a worse experience at a car dealership.
